Dr. Kookootsedes, originally from Arizona, completed all of her undergraduate and medical training in California.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where she enjoyed being the Class President of her sorority and cheerleading for the PAC-10 NCAA Football and Basketball teams.  Go Bruins!

Dr. Kookootsedes received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Southern California where she graduated with highest distinction.  During her training at USC, Dr. Kookootsedes was nominated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society and also received the American Medical Women Association Achievement Award.  She went on to complete her internal medicine residency and fellowship in rheumatology at UCLA.  She feels fortunate to have trained at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, VA West Los Angeles Medical Center, and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Kookootsedes finished her training in 2000 and has practiced in both Los Angeles and Orange County.  After spending the last few years as a UCLA Clinical Instructor teaching both medical students and fellows, she is excited to be returning to OC.  She is dedicated to providing top-notch patient care, staying abreast of medical developments and furthering her medical knowledge.

San Clemente is home for Dr. Kookootsedes, where she lives with her husband and children.  In her free time she enjoys running, Pilates, and playing at the beach.  Dr. Kookootsedes is an avid reader and enjoys taking cooking classes with her husband.  Outside of work, you may run into her on the San Clemente trail or having fun with her kids at Disneyland.

Dr. Kookootsedes strives to practice by the principles echoed in the quote by William Osler, “The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.”

"If you're looking for a caring, compassionate Rheumatologist, you've found it in Dr. K!  She listens to all issues and answers all questions.  She devises a concise, comprehensive treatment plan and considers all physical and functional limitations.  I love her!"

Karen J.

“I have already shared my experience with a San Clemente friend who is looking for a new Rheumatologist.  I love Dr. K and highly recommend her practice to anyone looking for care and competence in this area."

Teri S.

"I want to say Dr. Kookootsedes (Dr. K) has been a wonderful experience.  I was diagnosed over 20 yrs ago with Ankylosing Spondylitis and my former Dr recently retired.  I searched out a new rheumatologist and came across Dr. K
Very happy I did as both her and office staff have been great.  She listens to your problems and gets you going on best path of treatment.
I highly recommend her for anyone in search of a good attentive Dr who is excellent at what she does."

Grant G.

"Dr. K is Amazing.  She listened. was patient, and so kind.

Rarely have I felt this "broken" (serious flare up) and never imagined a new Rheumatologist that doesn't know me, would see it and trust the patient, but she did.  My mom is an MD, who hasn't practiced in 50 yrs. And she would say Dr. K is an "old fashioned" MD.  The ultimate compliment.

I'm grateful and thank Dr. K Very much.  I'll be back on my feet, "vertical" as I like to say, when I see her again in 2 weeks.  All because of her care."
